This year, today, is different. I’m finding myself caring. It’s not that I want or need flowers, and chocolates, and poems. I don’t need a big deal made out of Valentine’s today. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. Even though it’s never been a big deal to me, I do feel like something is missing. Obviously, someone. My guaranteed extra special Valentine for the day is missing.

They don’t know
I want to talk about something that will quite possibly make you uncomfortable. As I’ve said before, grief is messy. People with grief are messy. On the inside. Sometimes on the outside too. At least 50% of the time, we don’t know what we need. How could you possibly know what to say or do?
You can make it better
They are humans. We are also humans. Be kind. Reach out. Give of your heart and of your time. People need love. They need kindness shown to them. Start conversations. Be compassionate. Show grace. Spread love to all the ends of the earth in the way that only you can.
